Latest reviews of ABCKit app for iPhone and iPad

Solid, Good Content
What We Liked: ABCKit is solidly made with a sophisticated, understated design. On the iPad it is very easy to move between letters and find the specific one you’d like to practice with, it’s also a breeze to switch back and forth between upper case and lower case without entering a different section of the app when tracing. There are some nice options that aren’t normally found in an ABC app. The English phonetic sounds are clearly pronounced, and quite well done. Clearly tied to images starting with the sound, the letter name, and the formation of each letter, there is a triple-dose of phonics associations built into the app for a rock solid understanding of the short sounds of each letter. The Spanish and Catalan speakers are authentic and sound great – children can pick up some new vocabulary words in their target language (one for each letter of the alphabet), and learn phonetic pronunciation and letter names from real speakers. With three learning modes and three languages included, ABCKit is filled with a good amount of content. What We Didn’t Like: It is difficult to rapidly navigate to a specific letter on the smaller screen because the A-Z slider isn’t present. When trying to swipe between letters you often need to wait until the audio or animation finishes playing. Some of the pictures in the alphabet book (Know) section of the app don’t quite line up phonetically (ice cream is shown for the short sound of the letter I for example). The letter ‘x’ says ‘zzz’ instead of ‘ksss’ in this app. Overall: ABCKit is a well-rounded, multi-sensory early learning app that includes plenty of phonetic reinforcement throughout three learning activities (Know, Hear, Write) in three languages (English, Spanish, Catalan). This isn’t a splashy app, but it can serve as an effective teaching tool for pre-readers and early foreign language students. I received a promo code.
No Spanish at all
Dont waste your money if you want a Spanish app. It just have Catalan and English. You still have to buy the rest of the packages, it comes with just one.
